Habs Shut Out Ottawa – Leafs Lose – Halak Shuts Out Penguins – NHL Scores – Cornwall Ontario – October 24, 2010

Cornwall ON – Jaroslav had a hat trick leading his Blue to a 1-0 OT win over Sydney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins.    Then again so did Carey Price in keeping the weak and over rated Ottawa Senators in the Habs 3-0 thrashing in Ottawa.   The Habs out shot the Sens 34-19 with two goals by Andrei Kostitsyn.

I’d love to sing the Canadiens praises, but they still have a lot of issues while they wait for Andrei Markov to return.  Ottawa is simply dreadful.   Alex “Big Dawg” Kovalev is in neutral floating through game after game probably thinking about his next team; while some great hearted players who are trying their butts off but with limited talent wonder when the high priced stars on the team will get it in gear.

So far Pittsburgh is looking very smart for not resigning expensive ageing D man Sergei Gonchar.   Add in an aging Daniel Alfredsson, and a lightish Jason Spezza who may be held out before a trade kicks in, and you have one mess of a team.

The surprising New York Rangers stole a game from Boston 3-2 breaking the Bruins 5 game win streak.   The Sabres gored New Jersey, chasing Martin Brodeur from net in their 6-1 win.

Philadephia was all over the Leafs clipping them 5-2;  Alex Semin Hatty was the difference in Washington’s 4-3 win over Atlanta; The Panthers nipped the Islanders 4-3; Detroit beat the Ducks 5-4; Nashville shut out Dallas 1-0, Columbus had enough to get by the Hawks in their 3-2 win; it was Carolina 4-3 over the Yotes in OT; Dany Heatley and the Sharks drilled the Oilers 6-1.
