The Canada Gazette – Gateway to New Canadian Legislation by Reg and Kathy Coffey – December 22, 2010 – Ingleside Ontario

Ingleside ON – Over the past week or so there has been mention of new Canadian laws in the posts here in the Cornwall Free News. I thought that some information on how and where information on proposed legislation can be found would help those posters as well as anyone who is interested. Basically, all proposed pieces of legislation must be published in the Canada Gazette before becoming law.
.
The Government of Canada publishes communication on new and changing laws in its official newspaper, “The Canada Gazette”.  The gazette consists of three parts. Part I ccontains the intent to add or change laws; Part II contains the details of the changes after consultation, and Part III is the done deal. Nothing can become law unless it is published in the Canada Gazette.
.
Part 1 is where Canadians have an opportunity to influence how these laws are changed. If you want to comment on the proposals, contact information for each new or changing law can be found at the end of the section of each proposed law.

As an example for anyone interested, I have summarized the Current Consultations (laws that been proposed and are currently under review)  in the Canada Gazette below. The details can be found at the link to the individual affected law below

.
