Habs Tied with Boston for 1st in Conference at 49 points in 3-2 OT Comeback Win! NHL Scores – January 9, 2011 – Cornwall Ontario

Cornwall ON – A win is a win is a win.   Bad penalty, bad goals, all seem different when you get the W for the night as Montreal did over rival Boston Bruins and folks, Montreal desperately needed this win in front of the home crowd.  I love come back wins too, unless performed by Russian teams against Canada 🙂

It’s started ugly with Montreal giving up 2 goals early, but les boys rallied back before scoring the winner in OT.   Brian Gionta, Scott Gomez, and Max Pacioretty scored for Montreal.

Montreal did many things right including out shooting Boston 42-29.   Yannik Weber sat out with the return of Roman Hamrlik.  It was amazing to see Hal Gill come to the rescue and nail Zdeno Chara after the Boston Behemoth threw a bit of a tantrum after losing the game.

In other NHL scores; Philly defeated NJ 2-1; Islanders 4-3 over Colorado; Tampa nipped Ottawa 2-1; Jose Theodore and Minnesota shut out the Sidney Crosby-less Penguins 4-0; Washington outscored the Panthers 3-2; the Rangers nipped the Blues 2-1 while Buffalo defeated Phoenix by the same score.

Sergei Kostitsyn notched the winner for Nashville in their 2-1 win over San Jose;  Detroit needed the shoot out to break Vancouver’s win streak 2-1; and LA out dueled Columbus 6-4.

And a final note…Boo to Leafs Coach Ron Wilson allowing his team to run up the score against Atlanta on their Friday night 9-3 victory.
