Habs Come Back and Nip Caps 3-2 – Gionta scores all 3 goals – Leafs Win- Sens Lose – NHL Scores – February 2, 2011 – Cornwall Ontario

Cornwall ON – Shoot early, shoot often and usually the hockey gods will smile down upon you.   Montreal eeked out a 3-2 shoot out victory with Captain Brian Gionta showing why he’s captain as he scored all three Habs goals including the shoot out winner.

It was an important game for Montreal in that they showed some character and came back from a 2 goal deficit and didn’t quit.   Carey Price, after giving up a softie, kept the Caps from the scoresheet.   Alex Ovechkin was pointless on the evening as well.

Amazing what a few days off can do for an aging and talented Defenseman like Roman Hamrlik.    He was plus 2 for the evening and had 3 shots.    I’d offer that it’s more important to sign Roman than Markov when it comes to importance to this team.

In other NHL games the Leafs beat 4-3 with Mr. Giguere picking up the W; Ottawa was edged 2-1 by the Devils; Boston clipped Carolina 3-2; the Islanders thrashed Atlanta 4-1; the Black Hawks gave Marty Turco the easy win with their 7-4 romp over Columbus; Pittsburgh beat the Rangers 4-3 without messers Crosby and Malkin; ageless Dwayne Roloson shut out the Flyers 4-0 giving Tampa the win; Calgary over Nashville 3-2; The Wild shut out the Kings  1-0; the Canucks beat Dallas 4-1; and Kyle Wellwood scored in his first game for the Sharks in their 5-3 victory over Phoenix.

Sure hope the Habs don’t grab Robyn Regehr…
