Habs tame Panthers 3-2 – Sens Clipped by Wings 7-5 – NHL Scores – February 3, 2011 – Cornwall Ontario

Cornwall ON – Good teams win the games they’re supposed to; especially after the All Star break.  A win is a win, but something changes after the break and it’s show time!

Detroit had a shaky night fending off Ottawa before finally finishing off the 27th place team 7-5 in the Sens barn.    Montreal also had a tough time with Alex Auld in net, but came on strong to finish off the Panthers in front of the brave fans in Montreal who crawled out in the middle of a horrible snow day.

Captain Brian Gionta scored the winner in the 3rd with Tomas Plekanec and Jeff Halpern also hitting the back of the net.

The good news for Habs fans is that the right guys did the right thing and those that probably aren’t the right guys make it more clear game by game where the Habs can improve themselves for the play offs.

Montreal out shot Florida 41-35, but the shots against seem to be creeping up against Montreal goalies which isn’t good.

In other NHL Scores the Penguins shut out the Islanders 3-0; Vancouver was ahead of Phoenix 1-0; LA & Edmonton were scoreless, and SJ was up 2-0 over Anaheim as of press time.
