Akwesasne Warriors tied for 2nd Place as they lose 3rd in a Row – 5-2 Loss to 1000 Island Privateers

Akwesasne Mohawk Territory –    The biggest cheers of the night at the Turtle Dome Saturday night was when heavyweight Travis Stacey dropped the gloves for the first time in his match with Chase Tippin in the Warriors 5-2 home loss, the third loss in a row.

Akwesasne actually played a strong physical game out shooting 1000 Islands 47-32, but were missing number one goalie David Plouffe and Ahmed Mahfouz.

Newcomer Maths Johansson, a Swedish native, plays forward and the team has yet to fill the void on defense after Carter Trevisani moved on two weeks ago.

The Warriors were 0-4 on the Power Play which is one of the big reasons they failed Saturday night.

Cornwall Ontario’s Nicholas Fillion saw his record fall to 4-4 for the Warriors in goal.   Hopefully the Warriors will have all their stars ready for a rematch with the Privateers on Wednesday.

The Warriors actually see themselves tied in 2nd place with the New York Aviators and  a mere 4 percentage points behind the Privateers and their next game against their rival may decide who finishes first in the premiere season of the Federal Hockey League.  It’s going to be a bumpy end of the season Federal Hockey League fans!
