NHL Trade Deadline – Ho Hum so far – Dustin Penner is now a KING – February 28, 2011 – Cornwall Ontario

Cornwall ON – It’s trade deadline day and so far LA has landed the biggest fish acquiring Dustin Penner from Edmonton for a 1st, a 3rd, and Colten Teubert, the Kings 2008 1st Round Draft pick.

Ottawa got rid of Chris Campoli for a 7th and few hockey pucks, and Florida has been busy clearing house too sending away Dennis Wideman for a 3rd and Jake Hauswirth;  and Radak Dvorak and a 5th for Niclas Bergfors and  Patrick Rissmiller.

Phoenix shook things up sending Scottie Upshall and Sami Lepisto to Columbus for Rostislav Klesla and Dane Byers.

St. Louis gets a 3rd from Anaheim for Brad Winchester.  Leafs send John Mitchell to the Rangers…  Kudos to Jim Rutherford for actually finding someone to take Sergei Samsonov off his hands; in this case acquiring Bryan Allen from Florida.

Biggest surprise is that Brad Richards stays with the Stars meaning the team most likely will not get a return for their concussed Star.  The Rangers were expected to acquire Richards today.

Vancouver grabs Chris Higgins for a 3rd + and then reunites Higgins with former team mate Maxim Lapierre who’s picked up from Anaheim for Joel Perrault and a 3rd.  Calgary grabs Frederik Modin..  more to come.

Jason Arnott looks to be a Washington Capital with New Jersey getting a 2nd and David Steckel…  Montreal so far and it’s looking to be about it grabbed a journeyman back up goalie from Atlanta, Drew MacIntyre for defenceman Brett Festerling.

Boston picked up goalie Anton Khudobin from Minnesota for D man Jeff Penner &  forward Mikko Lehtonen.

Montreal is quiet so far, but we’ll be UPDATING UNTIL  DEADLINE!
