CONSTABLE C.C.P.S. HERO BEAR

Cornwall, Ont. – The Cornwall Community Police Service is pleased to announce the arrival of a new group of officers to our ranks.  Constable Cornwall Community Police Service Hero Bear has arrived and is fit for duty.

 

The Hero Bear program is a fundraising initiative that will benefit several charities in the Cornwall area.  The start up funds were equally donated by the Cornwall Community Police Services Police Board and the Cornwall Police Association.  The bears will be sold for $10.00 each and the proceeds will be equally returned to the Board and the Association where each group will decide which charities will receive donations.

 

The bears will be sold to the general public at ScotiaBank, Brookdale Center beginning March 28th.

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE

Cornwall, Ont. – Ronald Robert Rosario Savard, 50, of Cornwall was arrested on the 16th of March, 2011 for breaching his conditions.  He was bound by a Recognizance Order with a condition to Abstain contact with persons known to him to use or deal with drugs.  On the arrest date, it is alleged that he was operating a motor vehicle on St-Felix in the company of another male who has been known to use and deal with drugs.  He was arrested for 1 count of Breach of Recognizance and released to appear in court on the 12th of April, 2011 to answer to the charge.

 

 

TAKE MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT CONSENT and ASSAULT

Cornwall, Ont. – Andrew Kyle Landry, 20 and Kaelin Wotherspoon, 18, both of Cornwall were arrested in the early hours of March 19th, 2011.  It is alleged that the couple took a motor vehicle without the owners’ consent.  Police were contacted and the vehicle was located in the area of Montreal Road.  A member of Community Patrol approached the occupants at which time police report that the female spat on one of the officers.  As a result of the investigation, the male and female are facing 1 count of Take Motor Vehicle without Consent.  The female is further facing 1 count of Assault.  They were both released to appear in court on the 05th of April, 2011 to answer to their respective charges.

 

 

BREACH OF UNDERTAKING

Cornwall, Ont. – Jory Ann Thomas-Levere, 19, of Cornwall was arrested in the early hours of March 20th, 2011 for breaching her conditions.  She was bound by 2 separate Undertaking Orders with the following conditions:  To Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour and to Abstain from the consumption of alcohol or other intoxicating substances.  Police allege that that they attended her residence on unrelated matter and discovered that the female was under the influence of alcohol.  As a result, she was arrested for 2 counts of Breach of Undertaking and held in custody until court the following day.

 

 

FRAUD

Cornwall, Ont. – Stephanie Lapierre, 19, of Kingston turned herself into police on the 19th of March, 2011 at the request of police.  On the 20th of January, 2011 it is alleged that she deposited cheques into her bank account with knowledge that there were no funds in it. Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the female facing 2 counts of Fraud Under $5,000.00.  She was released to appear in court on the 05th of May, 2011 to answer to the charges.

 

 

THREATS and WEAPONS

Cornwall, Ont. – Larry James Dillabough, 27, of Cornwall was arrested on the 20th of March, 2011.  It is alleged that during an argument with another male, Dillabough displayed a knife, removed it from its’ holder and threatened to kill the male.  Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the male facing 1 count each of Utter death threat, Assault with a Weapon and Weapons Dangerous.  He was held in custody until court on the 21st of March, 2011.

 

 

ASSAULT

Cornwall, Ont. – A 48 year-old Longueil Quebec male was arrested on the 20th of March, 2011 following a domestic disturbance investigation.  It is alleged that during an argument with his 43 year-old girlfriend, he struck her on the shoulder.   The victim did not require medical attention at the time of the incident.  Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the male facing 1 count of Assault.  He was held in custody until court.  His name is not being released as it may identify the victim in this incident.

FIRST STREET EAST FIRE INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, Ont. – A post-mortem conducted on Maurice Champagne has concluded that the cause of death was a result of smoke inhalation.  The Cornwall Community Police Service has completed their investigation in this matter.

DRUG OFFENCES

 

(South Glengarry) – On March 18, 2011, at approximately 10:15pm, an SD&G OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Highway 401, South Glengarry Twp for a traffic violation. The stop resulted in a small amount of suspected marihuana seized by the officer from 2 male occupants in the vehicle.

The driver, Steven RAMCHARAN (24), and passenger Earle WRIGHT (24), both from Toronto, ON were arrested and each charged with;

    • Possession of a Controlled Substance

Both were released to attend court in Alexandria on May 11, 2011.

 

(North Dundas) – On March 19, 2011, at approximately 12:30am, an SD&G OPP officer stopped a vehicle on Hyndman Rd, North Dundas Twp. The stop resulted in the seizure of a small amount of suspected marihuana from inside the vehicle.

The driver (lone occupant) Wesley LANGFORD (18) of North Grenville, was arrested and is charged with;

    • Possession of a Controlled Substance

He was released and scheduled to attend court in Morrisburg on May 10, 2011.

DOMESTIC INCIDENTS RESULT IN CHARGES

 

(North Stormont) – On March 19, 2011, SD&G OPP began an investigation in a report of a domestic incident at a residence on County road 6, North Stormont Twp. Investigation revealed a male at the residence was being aggressive and had assaulted his girlfriend a family member in the residence. He had also uttered threats towards them. Upon arrest, the male resisted and became assaultive towards police.

The 22yr old male was held in custody, pending a court (bail) appearance in Cornwall to faces the following charges;

    • Assault Police (2 counts)
    • Resist Arrest
    • Assault (2 counts)
    • Utter Threats

(South Dundas) – On March20, 2011, at approximately 9:00am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic incident at a residence in the village of Iroquois. Investigation revealed a male had threatened to harm his girlfriend and cause damage to the residence and had left the residence in a vehicle. Officer intercepted the vehicle on County Rd 2. The male was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested accordingly.

The 39yr male, from Iroquois was held in custody, pending a court (bail) appearance in Cornwall, to face the following charges;

    • Fail to Provide Breath Sample
    • Utter Threats (2 counts)

(South Glengarry) – On March 20, 2011, at approximately 6:45pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a female in breach of conditions resulting from a previous domestic investigation. The female had continued to communicate with the victim despite a non-communication condition.

The 33yr old female, from Lancaster was arrested and held in custody pending a court (bail) appearance in Cornwall, to face a charge of;

    • Fail to Comply with Undertaking

THEFT OF SNOWMOBILE

 

(South Glengarry) – On March 18, 2011, SD&G OPP received a report of theft of a snowmobile from a residence on Boisvenue Rd, South Glengarry Twp.

A 2001 Ski-Doo MXZ 700, Black, bearing Ontario registration #886290 was taken from the noted residence sometime over the past 2 weeks.
