Montreal Shuts Out Boston in Game one results – NHL Play Off Results – April 14, 2011 – Cornwall Ontario

Cornwall ON – All eyes were on Zdeno Chara tonight as the Habs visit Boston for game one of their opening round series.

Alright, maybe a few eyes are on Montreal Goal tender Carey Price who as I write this has a shut out going into the third period.

Montreal got the first goal of the game and series as Captain Brian Gionta found the net and the Habs have played Jacques Martin hockey since.

Scott Gomez picked up the assist.  Montreal is playing similar to last year in that they’re being out shot and depending on their goalie and so far Carey Price is doing a fine job.  Both goalies are although Tim Thomas hasn’t been challenged as much as Mr. Price.

What the Habs have done a great job at tonight is forcing the Bruins to play a perimeter game and keep the kill zone opportunities to a minimum.

Scott Gomez, the victim of much abuse this year like last year over his huge salary set up Brian Gionta’s second goal and played a heck of a game.   He was physical.  He was fast and he stepped up his game at the time you want your players to do so.

With two minutes to go Zdeno Chara took a penalty while beating on Tomas Plekanec who also had a good game for Montreal.

Buffalo out dueled Philly shutting them out 1-0 as Ryan Miller stole game one in Philadelphia with 35 saves.    The Flyers were without Chris Pronger for game 1.    San Jose defeated Los Angeles 3-2 in their first game.   Anze Kopitar did not lace up for the Kings.    Joe Pavelski scored the winning goal in OT.   Dan Boyle logged over 30 minutes for the Sharks.

So hockey fans how is your team doing and who will win this series?  You can post your comments below.
