Lightning Strike Bruins 5-2 in Game One – Derek Boogaard passes away at 28 – NHL Play Offs 2011

CFN – The Tampa Bay Lightning took game one of their series with the Boston Bruins winning 5-2.

The game was never really close with Tampa Bay scoring the first 3 goals before Bruins rookie Tyler Seguin scored on Dwayne Roloson.

Boston got nasty in the third period with Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton both getting misconduct penalties.

While the Bruins focused and shut down Steve Stamkos, Vinny Lecavalier was able to put 5 shots on goal and was +3 for the night.

Late season pick up, d man Eric Brewer manned over 25 minutes of ice time for the Lightning.

San Jose is in Vancouver for game one of their series and the hockey world is mourning the loss of the Boogey Man, Derek Boogaard who was found lifeless.   No cause of death has been determined yet.   The Boogey Man was 28.

What is it with the Rangers and bad luck for free agents?  Their careers tank and now have had 3 players pass away prematurely in the last several years?

The 6’7 Boogaard started his career with Minnesota before signing a 4 year deal with the Rangers.
