Cornwall ON – Here is your police blotter for the Cornwall Ontario area for Thursday June 23, 2011.

DRUGS

Cornwall, Ont. – On the 17th of June, 2011, the Cornwall Community Police Service Street Crime Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Search warrant at a Baldwin Avenue residence.  As a result of the search, a quantity of drugs, believed to be cocaine and marijuana were seized.  The total value of the drugs and other offence related property is estimated at over $369.00.

 

As a result of the investigation:

 

Vincent Joseph A. Brunette, 22, of Cornwall was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1 count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and 1 count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.  He was held in custody until court the following day.

 

 

 

FAIL TO ATTEND COURT and BREACHES

Cornwall, Ont. – Karen Marlene Papineau, 49, of Cornwall was arrested on the 22nd of June, 2011.  She was bound by an Undertaking and a Probation Order with the same condition:  To Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  On the 21st of June, 2011 it is alleged that she failed to attend court.  As a result, a warrant was issued.  She was located at a Montreal Road business and arrested for 1 count of Fail to attend court, 1 count of Breach of Undertaking and 1 count of Breach of Probation.  She was held in custody until court.

 

 

ESCAPE LAWFUL CUSTODY and BREACH OF PROBATION

Cornwall, Ont. – A 15 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 22nd of June, 2011.  On the 21st of June, it is alleged that the young person left his group home without reasonable excuse, therefore breaching his condition.  The young person was also bound by a Probation Order with a condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  The youth was located in the east end of the city and arrested for 1 count of Escape Lawful Custody and 1 count of Breach of Probation.  He was held in custody until court on the 23rd of June, 2011 to answer to the charges.   His name is withheld due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

THREATS TO LIFE

Cornwall, Ont. – A 68 year-old Cornwall female was arrested on the 22nd of June, 2011 following a threats investigation.  It is alleged that the female contacted her 59 year-old ex-husband by telephone and threatened to kill him.  Police were contacted and an investigation commenced.  As a result of the police investigation, the female is facing 1 count of Utter a death threat and was released to appear in court on the 19th of July, 2011 to answer to the charge.  Her name is withheld as it may identify the victim in this incident.

 

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, WEAPONS DANGEROUS and BREACH OF PROBATION

Cornwall, Ont. – A 47 year-old Cornwall male was arrested on the 22nd of June, 2011 following an investigation.  The male was bound by a Probation Order with a condition to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.  It is alleged that in the past, the male would repeatedly watch through his neighbours’ window.  On the offence date, it is alleged that the neighbour’s boyfriend attended the male’s residence to retrieve some of his property, at which time the male chased him with a knife.  Police were contacted and an investigation resulted in the male being arrested for 1 count of Criminal Harassment, 1 count of Assault with a Weapon, 1 count of Weapons Dangerous and 1 count of Breach of Probation.  He was held in custody until court.  His name is not being released as it may identify the victims in this incident.

CHARGES LAID IN ARMED ROBBERY

(South Dundas, Ont.) – On 12Jun11 at approximately 2:30am, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store in Iroquois located in South Dundas County.
Two males, one armed with a weapon entered the store and demanded that the clerk hand over all the money that was in the cash register.
The employee was not injured and the two males fled on foot.
Further investigation conducted by SD&G OPP Crime Unit resulted in two male youths (16 year old, 17 year old both from South Grenville) being arrested.  The weapon has been seized.
Each youth is facing charges of;

  • Robbery with weapon
  • Disguise with intent
  • Imitation firearm- use while commit offence
  • Possess weapon for dangerous purpose

Both males were released on a Promise to Appear in Morrisburg Court on August 2, 2011.

CHARGES LAID

(South Glengarry, On.) –  On June 18 at approximately 5pm, SD&G OPP officers were dispatched for a domestic disturbance at a residence on Beaupre Road, in the Township of South Glengarry
The investigation revealed that a 45 year old male was not complying with prior release conditions and had attended the location on Beaupre Road to confront his 37 year old former common law wife. The male and female engaged in a verbal argument at which point the male left the residence prior to police arrival.
On June 22 at approximately 7:45pm, the male was located, arrested and faces charges of:

  • Breach of Probation (x2)
  • Criminal Harassment

The male was held in custody to appear for bail hearing in Cornwall Criminal Court on June 23.

(South Stormont, On.)  On June 22 at approximately 8:30am, SD&G OPP officers were dispatched to a residence on County Road 42, located in South Stormont Township for a report of a male breaching his prior release conditions.
Upon arrival at scene, the officers located the male in the back yard breaching his prior release condition of not to attend his ex-wife’s residence.
The 44 year old male(who resides in South Stormont) was arrested and faces charges of:

  • Fail to comply

The male was held for bail and taken to Cornwall Criminal Court on June 22.

(South Dundas, On.) On June 23 at approximately 12:15am, SD&G OPP officers were dispatched to a domestic occurrence on Orchard Way, Village of Morrisburg in South Dundas Township.
The investigation revealed that the 21 year old complainant and a 20 year old female ex-partner were still co-habitating within the same residence.  The complainant was watching television with another 21 year female when the 20 year old ex-female partner arrived at the residence.   The 20 year old female began a verbal argument which escalated to a physical confrontation between the 3 parties.
The 20 year old female was arrested and faces charges of:

  • Assault (x2)
  • Utter threat to damage property

The female was released on a Promise to Appear in Cornwall Criminal Court on July 19.
