River Dogs pound Sharks in battle of St. Lawrence College men’s hockey teams by Stephen Petrick – Cornwall Ontario – December 10, 2011

CFN – Kalem Sigsworth scored three goals and Chris Love and Chris Herbert scored two goals each as the St. Lawrence College River Dogs men’s hockey team skated to a 9-3 win over the rival St. Lawrence College Cornwall Sharks at the Benson Centre on Friday, Dec. 9.

The two teams play each other in an exhibition annually, as they prepare for the upcoming season.

The River Dogs also received goals by Eric Ringer and Brady Cherry.

Wallace Thompson scored two of the Sharks goals, with Dylan Prendergast scoring the other.

The two teams will get a rematch when they compete in the River Dogs Men’s Hockey Invitiational Tournament in Brockville Jan. 12-13.

The teams will open the tournament with a game against each other at the Brockville Memorial Centre on Jan. 12 at 4 p.m.  

Schooners shutout Sharks in men’s indoor soccer

Jason Smellnick provided the game’s only goal, as the St. Lawrence College Brockville Schooners blanked the St. Lawrence College Cornwall Sharks in men’s indoor soccer play at the Benson Centre in Cornwall on Saturday, Dec. 3.Scott Frey picked up a well deserved shutout in goal. He made a number of good saves, including a diving stop of a quick kick right in front of the goal.

The game was a tuneup for both teams, as they prepare for a number of Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Tournaments. The Schooners, will next compete in the Redeemer Invitational February. 4, while the Sharks will play in the Centennial Invitational January 21.

Sharks beat Schooners in women’s indoor soccer
Sara Tyrell,  Cassie Warren, Casey Atwell and Avery Pearce scored goals to lead the St. Lawrence College Cornwall Sharks to a 4-1 win over the St. Lawrence College Brockville Schooners in women’s indoor soccer play at the Benson Centre in Cornwall on Saturday, Dec. 3.The game was a tuneup for both teams, as they prepare for a number of Ontario Colleges Athletic Association tournaments in 2012.

Melissa Cordick scored for the Schooners, on a kick from just past midfield, to give SLC Brockville an early 1-0 lead. But Pearce and Atwell scored for Cornwall before the first half was over. Tyrell and Warren added second half goals.

The game was the first contest against a fellow OCAA team this year for both teams, although both teams play in local women’s indoor leagues.

The Sharks are preparing for the Centennial College Invitational January 21, while the Schooners are preparing for Redeemer Invitational, Feb. 4.
