CFN – Our local Galaxy theatre has been having some fun and rolling out some classics on Saturday’s. Tomorrow they’re playing Pee Wee’s Big Adventure and while it’s showing at 11 AM instead of 11 PM it’s still a blast!
I caught up with the delightful and talented E.G. Daily who played Dottie, Pee Wee’s (Paul Ruben) kinda frustrated girlfriend in the film whose goal to get him the drive in finally succeeds!
She’s credited with over 150 movies, tv episodes and has done a ton of voice work.
Yes, that EG in Rod Stewart’s Young Turks in 1981!
So what was it like playing Pee Wee Herman’s girlfriend – how did you motivate yourself and what do you think your character saw in him?
I saw that he was quirky like I felt Dotty was . I like quirky!
It was a blast playing his girl friend .. We laughed all the time !
Motivation was that I adored Pee Wee and was determined to be his girl!
Were you surprised at how successful the movie has been over the years? Do people still ping you on facebook and ask you about it?
Very surprised how big movie was … I think the studio expected it to do well . But for me it was another cool job I got to do and pleasantly surprised it did so well!
You do a lot of animation – As an actor how different is working with your voice as opposed to fully being on screen?
Yes do a lot of animation . You are more free in animation .Not limited by your looks or body free!!!
What would surprise people the most about EG Daily?
What would Surprise people about me ? Love American Idol! Well thats prob no surprise . I’m mom of two teen daughters !!! They are awesome!!
Do people ask you about being the voice of Babe the Pig?
Some people ask about Babe !
I love animals they are innocent and pure and I feel we need to speak for them where they can’t speak for themselves they are so forgiving even when then shouldn’t be sometimes!
EG has a role in the movie Yellow which is at TIFF.
She still works hard on her music.
