CFN – The last market day of the year in Long Sault was a windy day with threatening rain but it didn’t keep the shoppers away. There was lots of fall produce available (but no corn) and the pies for that special Thanksgiving dinner were flying off the tables. Avonmore Berry Farm still had some delicious strawberries from their “Everbearing” plants available.
The last community service spot at the market was taken by a bake sale for the South Stormont Hockey Association Selects atom team. I think they did quite well because I saw a lot of people walking around eating home baked cookies and cupcakes, and some of them even came over to enjoy a good cup of coffee with their sweet indulgences.
We even had a mascot of sorts to mark the end of the season. Benny the Bean showed up to help close the market with style, much to the amusement and amazement of the vendors and shoppers alike.
In a show of appreciation all of the vendors put together a basket of assorted goodies to present to the market manager, Donna Primeau. She did a wonderful job developing the market and keeping all of us vendors in line. We much appreciated all her hard work and her great positive attitude. She kept the atmosphere at the market light and fun and a pleasure to be there.
And of course we must have a group photo on the final day. From left to right we have Janice – Plum Heritage Quilts, Ray – Ray-Mar Farms, Karen (in background) – Nutcracker’s, Victoria – Clarkburn Vegetables, Barb – Clarkburn Vegetables, Donna – Market Manager, Reg – Coffey’s Coffee, Toi – Thai To Go, Bernadette – Linda’s Garden Goodies, Regula – Swiss Farm Bakery, Servaas – Ingleside Tomatoes, Mike – Flour Child Gluten Free Bakery, and last but not least, Andrew – Avonmore Berry Farm.
This picture does not include all the vendors from the summer whose product’s season had expired. Fortunately, their participation was recorded in my previous reports. It was a little sad to see the market end but, never fear, we will be back before Christmas. As you can see in previous photos we are holding a Christmas market on Saturday, December 8th at the Long Sault Town Hall. There will be a press release just before the event to remind you.
Checked out Coffey’s Coffee Website – Fantastic!
Just returning to the area, and looking for information on becoming a vendor at the market.
Thanks
Well Nancy, Donna Primeau is the person to talk to. The market won’t be open again until next June so you have some time.
Although, we are going to have a Christmas market. You might be able to get a table for that event.
