Conflicted Elaine MacDonald Petitions City for Grants for Agape Centre While Sitting on Board of Directors – Oct 16, 2013

Jamie DNACornwall Ontario –  Utter mayhem and insanity as Cornwall City Council allowed councilor Elaine MacDonald to debate and vote in issues related to the Agape Food Bank of which she’s a sitting member of the board.

council ELAINE

And to add irony to the pot  the councilor was seeking funds from the city to help the charity’s commercial store to sell goods collected from the community.   IE;  Councilor Elaine MacDonald wanted money from the taxpayers to help the charity she sits on as a board member, compete with local stores which are already over burdened by heavy commercial taxes on property in Cornwall.

The video clearly shows the utter mayhem and disconnection with proper procedure this council and management have with political reality and procedure.   And what is with Mayor Kilger talking so rudely to duly elected councilor Gerry Samson, again?

Sorry, here’s the real gong show video below

In a city where you can’t hold a job for the city and be an elected official it’s utterly hypocritical for Ms MacDonald to use her elected office to advocate for any agency she sits on as a board member.  What’s even more odd is that not one of the other 9 councilors, mayor or staff called her on this.

The Agape itself is under fire and scrutiny with multiple staff pending lawsuits/issues.    While a food bank and services are needed and vital, the public clearly is not wanting to support this organization and it is having to go to the city looking for extra funding.    Some have suggested that more is being spent on salaries and the facility than it is delivering in services to the community.

elaine-syd-guyMs MacDonald has also hijacked taken a seat on the board of another city leech agency seeking funding, TAG where she has her cohort Carilyne Hebert, the former youth leader of the local NDP.  Ms Hebert also sits on the board of the Agape coincidentally.

Just one more thing Jamie I love your T shirt. I think that I will go and replay that crazy insane scene with you and Cornwall’s Barney Fife PD coming out of the sewer like rats. LOL LOL. I get a good kick on that video. More laughs than a barrel full of monkeys.

What a joke. Elaine MacDonald doesn’t play by the rules one bit. She MUST declare conflict of interest. Will she??? That is why our city and how it’s run is a big joke.

    On a brighter note…..yes, I love the t-shirt too!

What about Conc. Carr ? Wouldn’t that be a conflict of interest also ? Doesn’t he have a position with Heart of the City ? Wasn’t he discussing grants for the “Agape Centre” on that same discussion that NDP Conc. Elaine was ? Please correct me if I’m wrong ! While were at it, we desperately need an ethics commissioner ! The Commissioner, would be a very busy little bee, after dealing with members of Council & their alleged conflicts, his aim would certainly turn to several other areas of the City !

It certainly is odd that a cleaner at City Hall or nurse at GSDL would have to give up their jobs if elected, but the head of the Labour Council can be privy to labour negotiations in the city or board members can lobby council and vote and debate on said issues.

I obviously missed something ! When did members of Cornwall’s municipal government become accountable to the community that they were elected to represent and serve ? Is Elaine MacDonald simply perhaps acting on the Mayor’s recommendations ? Ms MacDonald should not have to do anything that she doesn’t want to do ! She is a Cornwall politician and therefore above reproach !

ABSOLUTELY AGREE with SERPICO – Sounds like more than Carr and Elaine are in conflict – if the PAC denied the original $10,000 application, as did the Heart of the City, then WHO presented to Council a $57,000 package. Are they all swine??? Can anyone be trusted??? Oh, and watch Glenn,….

At least tonight Elaine declared her CoI in regard to the Agape Centre. But she then asked leading questions in regard to the Agape Centre’s fundraising campaign. Does she not understand what CoI is about?
