Nativity Co-Cathedral Temporarily Closed in Cornwall Ontario DEC 21, 2015

The Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall has decided to temporarily suspend the use of Nativity Co-Cathedral in light of what appears to be a structural problem with the choir loft.  The parish has granted a contract to a professional engineering consulting firm to investigate the situation fully and recommend remedial action.  They will begin their assessment the first week of January.  This action is being taken to ensure the safety of the public.  The Co-Cathedral will reopen as soon as any required corrective measures can be implemented.

Christmas and New Year’s Masses will be as follows:

The Mass on Christmas Eve will be celebrated at St-Félix-de-Valois Church at 7:30 pm, Bishop Marcel will preside. There will be a single Mass on Christmas day for the three French east end parishes at St-Félix-de-Valois Church at 10:30 am. There will be a single Mass on New Year’s Eve for the three French east end parishes at St-Félix-de-Valois at 5:00 pm, Bishop Marcel will preside.  There will be a single Mass on New Year’s Day for the three French east end parishes at Ste-Croix Chuch at 10:30 am.

  1. Same thing happened in Casselman a few years back. Fix it now before even more repairs are needed.

  2. I had a good chuckle thinking about my former supervisor in the federal government when she spoke about the day she got married way back in the late 1940’s era and the church steeple of her Anglican church fell down and she said that she should have taken the steeple’s advice and not get married because it ended in divorce after so many years. Hopefully nobody will have any strange accidents going to the church. We sure do have a very strange Christmas this year with no snow and none in the forecast. I hate so much rain and it doesn’t feel like Christmas at all.
