Busy Weekend for Police in Cornwall Ontario JULY 11, 2016

POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE

 

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on July 8th, 2016 and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. It is alleged while at a Yates Avenue address on July 8th, 2016 the youth chased another youth while holding a knife. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on July 9th, 2016 and charged with assault with a weapon and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during an argument on July 9th, 2016 the youth struck a 52-year-old woman known to her with a closet door and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

ASSAULT

 

Cornwall, ON – Paul McCarty, 44 of Cornwall was arrested on July 9th, 2016 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an argument on July 9th, 2016 the man punched a 24-year-old man known to him in the face and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

FAIL TO ATTEND

 

Cornwall, ON – Jacques Allaire, 43 of Cornwall was arrested on July 9th, 2016 and charged with failing to attend for fingerprints. It is alleged the man failed to attend police headquarters on July 7th, 2016 as required for prints and an investigation ensued. On July 9th, 2016 the man attended police headquarters for an unrelated matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Sherri Hummell, 33 of Cornwall was arrested on July 9th, 2016 and charged with breach of recognizance and probation for contacting 911 for a non-emergency matters. It is alleged on July 9th, 2016 the woman contacted police by way of 911 for a non-emergency matter despite her conditions. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

 

BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – John Gallant, 39 of Cornwall was arrested on July 10th, 2016 and charged with breach of probation for having consumed alcohol and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on July 10th, 2016 police attended an Eighth Street address as the intoxicated man was banging on a stranger’s door. Police attended and found the man in breach of his conditions. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released once sober to attend court on August 16th, 2016.

 

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

 

Cornwall, ON – Aaron Biefer, 22 of Cornwall was arrested on July 10th, 2016 and charged with theft under $5000 as well as breach of recognizance and three probation orders for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on July 10th, 2016 the man attended a Ninth Street store and removed property making no attempt to pay for the item as he left the store. He was stopped by the Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. The man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.
