CORNWALL – In December 2015, the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall temporarily suspended the use of Nativity Co-Cathedral to allow time to investigate a possible structural problem with the church’s choir loft.
The engineering report that was generated confirmed the need for structural reinforcement. Proposals were sought and the contracts awarded. The work has now been completed and we are pleased to announce that the Co-Cathedral will reopen Thursday September 8, 2016, the feast day of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Archbishop Terrence Prendergast, S.J., Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese, will preside at the opening mass which will take place at 7:00 p.m.
The Diocese is currently discerning the Co-Cathedral’s future and all that entails.
Everyone is invited to celebrate this important feast and the reopening of our Co-Cathedral on September 8, 2016.
