Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 114 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on January 4, 2018. Of these, 69 calls occurred in the city central area, 25 in the west end, 9 in the east end, and 3 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

  • 1 sexual assault
  • 2 harassment calls
  • 1 weapons offence call
  • 3 fight/disturbance calls
  • 3 undesirable calls
  • 4 alarm calls
  • 2 neighbour dispute calls
  • 4 noise complaints
  • 1 missing person call
  • 3 Mental Health Act calls
  • 1 medical assist call
  • 9 assist citizen calls
  • 1 break and enter call
  • 9 theft calls
  • 1 shoplifting call
  • 2 mischief calls
  • 7 motor vehicle collisions
  • 1 impaired driving call
  • 3 driving complaints
  • 15 suspicious activity calls
  • 1 drug call

There were 6 men arrested within the last 24 hours, between 22 and 49 years of age, for the following: utter threats to cause bodily harm, assault, cause disturbance, unlawfully in a dwelling-house, possession of a weapon, possession of stolen property, fraud, theft, possession of prohibited weapon, and breach probation. Three persons were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Man Arrested after Unprovoked Attack on Pedestrian

A 39-year-old local man was arrested after an unprovoked random attack on a pedestrian.

On January 4, 2018 at approximately 9:15 a.m. the victim was walking west along the sidewalk on Wellington Street when the accused whom she did not know, started yelling and swearing at her. The accused then ran up and tried to punch her. The victim avoided the blow, as the accused grabbed her coat and threated to beat her. A passing motorist stopped and yelled at the accused at which point the victim was able to get away and call police.

Officers began searching the area and located the accused walking on Wellington Street. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with utter threats to cause bodily harm, assault, cause disturbance, and breach probation.

Man Enters Apartment with Metal Bar and Threatens Residents

A 49-year-old local man is facing multiple charges after entering an apartment and threatening the residents with a metal bar.

On January 4, 2018 at approximately 8:45 a.m. the accused entered a downtown apartment without knocking or permission. The accused is known to the residents, who have occasionally allowed him stay in their home. As the accused walked in he brandished a large metal bar and threatened to break the male’s limbs and beat up the female, if they did not return his missing wallet. The female was able to phone 911 as the accused began punching the male.

Patrol and Emergency Response Officers were quickly on scene and entered the residence. The accused was not holding the bar upon police entry and was arrested without incident.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with unlawfully in a dwelling-house, possession of a weapon, two counts of utter threats to cause bodily harm, and breach probation.

UPDATE: Police Asking for Assistance to Identify Suspect using Stolen Credit Card

A 22-year-old local man has been identified and arrested for use of a stolen credit card after his image was released to social media.

On November 16, 2017 an image of the suspect was released to social media. As a result of the release, police received multiple anonymous tips as to the possible identity of the suspect. Detectives were able to confirm the suspect’s identity and verify he was the person captured on surveillance video. A warrant was requested for the suspect’s arrest.

On January 5, 2018 police located and arrested the accused. The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, fraud and theft.

On September 12, 2017 sometime after 4:00 p.m. a purse was stolen from the front porch of an address on Earl Street.

The purse is a Mat & Nat brand, black suede rectangle. It contained the complainant’s wallet with a credit card, debit card, cash and personal identification cards. The credit card was used at various stores.
