Shop Lifting & Youth Charges in Cornwall Ontario – April 9, 2018 #CCPS

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on April 6th, 2018 and charged with breach of recognizance for not remaining in his residence and failing to reside with his surety. He was also charged with breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on April 3rd, 2018 the youth left his residence, despite his conditions, and police were contacted to investigate. On April 6th, 2018, police located the youth and he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

THEFT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Darin Cooper, 22, of Cornwall was arrested on April 6th, 2018 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on April 2nd, 2018 the man attended a Ninth Street store and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 6th, 2018 the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 3rd, 2018.

Cornwall, ON – Symphony Pierce, 24, of Cornwall was arrested on April 6th, 2018 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on March 19th, 2018 the woman attended a Brookdale Avenue store and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 6th, 2018 the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WITNESS WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Mathieu Lamarche, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on April 7th, 2018 on the strength of a witness warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court as a witness and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On April 7th, 2018 the man was located by police. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

POSSESSION FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING, PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Zain Abdin, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on April 8th, 2018 and charged with the following:

• Property obtained by crime
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
• Breach of undertaking (for being found in the company of a person known to him to have a criminal record involving drug offences & for failing to keep the peace)
• Breach of probation (for failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged on April 8th, 2018 during a traffic stop, the man was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine and Canadian currency. It is also alleged the man was in breach of his conditions as a passenger in the vehicle had a criminal record. During the traffic stop the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Akwesasne youth was arrested on April 8th, 2018 and charged with assault. It is alleged on March 28th, 2018 the youth struck another youth known to her and police were contacted to investigate. On April 8th, 2018 the youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. Her name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

ASSAULT CAUSE BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – A 13-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on April 8th, 2018 and charged with assault cause bodily harm. It is alleged on March 28th, 2018 during an argument, the youth punched another youth known to him, causing him to seek medical attention for his injuries, and police were contacted to investigate. On April 8th, 2018 the youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on April 9th, 2018 and charged with breach of undertaking for failing to notify a change of address to police. It is alleged on March 22nd, 2018 the youth failed to notify police of a change of address and an investigation ensued. On April 9th, 2018 the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

There were 142 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the weekend (8am Friday to 8am Monday morning).
