Sister Slapping, Senior Abuse, Guns, Weed & Knives in Cornwall Ontario #CCPS 043018

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 62-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 27th, 2018 and charged with assault. It is alleged during an argument on April 26th, 2018 the man assaulted his common-law wife and police were contacted to investigate. On April 27th, 2018 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

MISCHIEF, THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 23-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 27th, 2018 and charged with threats and mischief. It is alleged during an argument on April 27th, 2018, the man threatened his ex-girlfriend and damaged a dresser in the residence. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 31st, 2018. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Jonathan Leroux, 24, of Cornwall was arrested on April 27th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on April 12th, 2018 for a criminal harassment charge and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On April 27th, 2018 the man was located by police. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Tyanna Tessier, 23, of Lunenburg was arrested on April 28th, 2018 and charged with breach of undertaking for not abiding by a curfew, consuming alcohol, and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on April 28th, 2018 the woman was seen in breach of her conditions by a member of the Cornwall Community Police Service and an investigation ensued. During the investigation she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ESCAPE LAWFUL CUSTODY, THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH, RESIST ARREST, IDENTITY FRAUD

Cornwall, ON – Linzey Brownell, 23, of Cornwall was arrested on April 27th, 2018 and charged with the following:

  • Escape lawful custody
  • Theft under $5000
  • Resist arrest
  • Identity theft
  • Breach of recognizance

It is alleged on April 21st, 2018 the woman attended a Thirteenth Street West business and removed items, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. She was approached by an off-duty member of the Cornwall Community Police Service, at which time the woman allegedly, falsely identified herself to police and fled the scene. Further, it is alleged on April 25th, 2018 the woman attended a Tollgate Road business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. On April 27th, 2018 the woman was located by police, taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH, ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on April 28th, 2018 and charged with assault and breach of youth probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on April 28th, 2018 the youth assaulted two men known to him and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation, the youth was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – Wanda Ashford, 22, of Cornwall was arrested on April 28th, 2018 and charged with mischief under $5000. It is alleged on April 25th, 2018, the woman was jumping on a vehicle belonging to a woman known to her, causing damage to the vehicle. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On April 28th, 2018 the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 31st, 2018.

CARRYING A CONCEALED WEAPON, WEAPONS DANGEROUS, POINTING A FIREARM, BREACH, POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, BREACH OF PROHIBITION ORDER

Cornwall, ON – Mark Tyo, 33, and Robert Thibeault, 34, both of Cornwall were arrested and charged as follows:

Mark Tyo

  • Breach of prohibition order (for possessing a firearm)
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Robert Thibeault

  • Pointing a firearm
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a controlled substance (marijuana)
  • Breach of prohibition order (for possessing a firearm)
  • Breach of probation order (failing to keep the peace)
  • Breach of undertaking (for possessing a weapon)

It is alleged on April 28th, 2018 the two men were involved in an altercation in which Thibeault pointed, what was believed to be, a handgun at Tyo, who was also in possession of the item at some point in time. Police were contacted and an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division ensued. During the investigation, Tyo was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 31st, 2018. During a traffic stop on April 29th, 2018, police located Thibeault who was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a knife and a quantity of marijuana. He was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.



ASSAULT, ASSAULT CAUSE BODILY HARM

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on April 29th, 2018 and charged with assault and assault cause bodily harm. It is alleged in October, 2017 the man assaulted his sister, causing her to seek medical attention for her injuries. The man also allegedly assaulted his sister on April 29th, 2018 and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on May 31st, 2018. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Anson Jacco, 53, of Cornwall was arrested on April 30th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on April 26th, 2018 for theft and breaches and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On April 30th, 2018 the man was located by police. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.

There were 144 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the weekend (8am Friday to 8am Monday morning).
