Alleged Metal Bar Beating Leads to Police Charges in Cornwall Ontario 080219 #cps

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, POSSESSION OF A WEAPON FOR A DANGEROUS PURPOSE

Cornwall, ON – Guy Mernier, 62 of Cornwall was arrested on August 1st, 2019 and charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. It’s alleged during an argument on August 1st, 2019 the man struck another man with a metal bar. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on September 12th, 2019.

ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 41-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on August 1st, 2019 and charged with assault, assault with a weapon and breach of recognizance for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged during an argument the woman hit her boyfriend and struck him with an extension cord. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released, as it would identify the victim in the matter.

There were 58 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in the last 24 hours (8am the previous day to 8am the day of the release).
