WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Ian Craig, 43, of Cornwall was arrested on December 27th, 2019 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on August 7th, 2019 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On December 27th, 2019 a member of the Cornwall Police Service attended the courthouse as the man was in custody on an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed and he remained in custody to await a bail hearing.

FRAUD, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Brika Henophy, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on December 27th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on December 17th, 2019, the woman attended a Ninth Street business and returned merchandise she had not paid for. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 27th, 2019, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 28th, 2020.

THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Lise Dufresne, 53, of Cornwall was arrested on December 27th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on December 27th, 2019, the woman attended a Brookdale Avenue business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. She was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 30th, 2020.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Jerry Martin, 42, of Cornwall was arrested on December 27th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on December 27th, 2019, the man attended a Second Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. He was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Jose Acevedo Ovando, 20, of Cornwall was arrested on December 28th, 2019 and charged with breach of recognizance for failing to sign in. It is alleged the man failed to sign in to police on December 27th, despite his conditions, and an investigation ensued. On December 28th, 2019, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – Jessica Wright, 24, of Cornwall was arrested on December 28th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on December 28th, 2019, the woman attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. She was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 30th, 2020.

Cornwall, ON – Randy Froats, 24, of Williamsburg was arrested on December 28th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on December 28th, 2019, the man attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. He was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 30th, 2020.

THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Ottawa youth was arrested on December 28th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on December 28th, 2019, the youth attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. He was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. His name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

THEFT UNDER $5000, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Shelby Richmire, 34, of Cornwall was arrested on December 28th, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on December 14th, 2019, the woman attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 28th, 2019, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 23rd, 2020.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 39-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 28th, 2019 and charged with criminal harassment. It is alleged the man had repeatedly contacted his ex-girlfriend, despite being warned not to. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 28th, 2019 he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on January 21st, 2020. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

IMPAIRED, OVER 80, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Michael Davidson, 19, of Cornwall was arrested on December 29th, 2019 and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, over 80, as well as breach of recognizance for failing to remain in his residence. It is alleged during the early morning hours on December 29th, the man was operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol in the area of Carleton Street and Easton Avenue. The man was stopped by police and taken into custody. He was charged accordingly and remained in custody to await a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, THREATS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on December 29th, 2019 and charged with domestic assault and threats. He was also charged with three counts of breach of recognizance for contacting his girlfriend, being within a certain distance of her, and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on December 28th, 2019, during an altercation with his girlfriend, the man assaulted her and made threats to kill her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 29th, 2019, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

ASSAULT CAUSING BODILY HARM, THREATS, RESIST POLICE, ESCAPE LAWFUL CUSTODY, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Larry Labelle, 43, of Cornwall was arrested on December 29th, 2019 and charged with the following:

• Assault causing bodily harm
• Threats
• Resist police
• Escape lawful custody
• Breach of probation (for failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged during an altercation with a man known to him on December 22nd, 2019, he assaulted the man, causing an injury that required medical attention, as well as made threats to harm him. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On December 29th, 2019, police located the man, who fled from police while being taken into custody. After a brief foot chase, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

TAKE MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT CONSENT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Joseph Scott Kenny, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on December 29th, 2019 and charged with take motor vehicle without consent. He was also charged with two counts of breach of undertaking for failing to keep the peace and failing to notify a change of address to police. It is alleged the man took a motor vehicle belonging to someone known to him without their consent and police were subsequently contacted to investigate. On December 29th, 2019, police located the man and the vehicle. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

ROBBERY & VEHICLE OFFENCES

Cornwall, ON – Noah King, 26, of Cornwall was arrested on December 30th, 2019 and charged with the following:

• Assault x 2
• Assault police
• Assault with intent to resist arrest
• Dangerous operation
• Operation while impaired
• Failure to stop after accident
• Operation while prohibited
• Theft of motor vehicle
• Robbery with violence
• Mischief under $5000
• Breach of probation x 3 (for consuming drugs, alcohol and failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged during the early morning hours on December 30th, 2019, while impaired, the man took a motor vehicle from someone he did not know, assaulted the owner of the vehicle, and operated the vehicle in a dangerous manner. The vehicle subsequently struck a Water Street residence, where the man exited the vehicle and assaulted a woman he did not know in attempt to take her motor vehicle. Police attended and took the man into custody after a brief foot chase, at which time the man assaulted a police officer and damaged a police vehicle. He was charged accordingly and remained in custody to await a bail hearing.
