Shoplifting & Coke Charges Disclosed by Cornwall Police #CPS Blotter 012020

SHOPLIFTING X 3, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Jonathan Deruchie, 45, of Cornwall was arrested on January 17th, 2020 and charged with three counts of theft under $5000 and three counts of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on January 9th and 11th, the man attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store on either day. The man also allegedly attended a Second Street business on January 11th and again removed merchandise without making any attempt to pay for the items before leaving the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On January 17th, 2020 police located the man and took him into custody. He was charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 18th, 2020.

POSSESSION FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING COCAINE, POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME

Cornwall, ON – Marc Geneau, 33, of Cornwall was arrested on January 17th, 2020 and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and possession of property obtained by crime. As a result of an ongoing investigation by the CPS Street Crime Unit, the man was located on January 17th, 2020 in possession of a quantity of cocaine and Canadian currency. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 25th, 2020.

WARRANTS

Cornwall, ON – Akinyemi Williams, 30, of Ottawa, was arrested on January 18th, 2020 on the strength of multiple warrants. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on November 26th, 2019, as well as failed to attend for prints on July 26th, 2019 and warrants were issued for his arrest. On January 18th, 2020, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants and released to appear in court on February 25th, 2020.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Katsitsiaa Smoke, 26, of Snye, QC was arrested on January 18th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged on two occasions in 2018, the woman attended a Second Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store on either day. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On January 18th, 2020, she was taken into custody while stopped at the Port of Entry. The warrant was executed and the woman was released to appear in court on February 25th, 2020.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Justin Murray, 25, of Cornwall was arrested on January 19th, 2020 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on January 17th, 2020, the man attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On January 19th, 2020 he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 13th, 2020.

SHOPLIFTING, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Savannah Cousineau, 25, of Cornwall was arrested on January 19th, 2020 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on January 19th, 2020, the woman attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. She was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on February 11th, 2020.

There were 131 calls for service in the City of Cornwall in over the weekend (8am Friday to 8am Monday morning).
