(OTTAWA, ON) – On Saturday January 25, 2020 at approximately 2:30 p.m. an officer with the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a vehicle that was stopped in the westbound lanes of Highway 417 near Moodie Drive.
The officer approached the driver of the vehicle to investigate. The driver failed to identify himself to the officer and became aggressive and an altercation ensued. The officer sustained minor facial injuries prior to being able to arrest the driver. The officer was then seen by paramedics at the scene and no further medical assistance was required.
Kevin WILLIS, 28 years old of Ottawa has been charged with:
– Assault Police contrary to section 270(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
– Resist Arrest contrary to section 270(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail to Identify Self contrary to section 39.1(6) of the Highway Traffic Act
The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appearance the Ontario Court of Justice on February 27, 2020 in Ottawa on the Criminal Code charges and March 6, 2020 on the Highway Traffic Act charge.
