POLICE SEIZE APPROXIMATELY $56,000 IN ILLICIT CANNABIS AND CURRENCY

Cornwall, ON – A 22-year-old Cornwall man and a 17-year-old family member of the man, both of Cornwall, were arrested on February 12th, 2020 and charged with the following:

22-year-old:

• Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling x 4
• Possession of illicit cannabis x 4
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
• Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking – psilocybin

17-year-old:

• Possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling x 3
• Possession of illicit cannabis x 3

As a result of an ongoing investigation by the CPS Street Crime Unit, on February 12th, police executed a Search Warrant at a residence in the area of Glengarry Boulevard and Holy Cross Boulevard. During the investigation, police recovered a quantity of illicit cannabis and psilocybin, in addition to a quantity of American and Canadian currency. The combined street value of the drugs and currency is estimated to be approximately $56,000.00.

Both individuals were taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court at a later date. Their names were not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, as the identity of the adult man would identify the youth.

DRUG OFFENCES

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Crystal Bjergso, 30, of Cornwall was arrested on February 12th, 2020 and charged with breach of release order for consuming alcohol and drugs, failing to abide by a curfew and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged while police were investigating an unwanted person on February 12th, the woman was located in breach of her curfew, and had consumed drugs and alcohol. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

FAIL TO ATTEND FOR FINGERPRINTS

Cornwall, ON – Johnny Sawatis, 33, of Cornwall was arrested on February 12th, 2020 and charged with failing to attend for fingerprints. It is alleged on February 11th, 2020, the man failed to attend police headquarters for fingerprints, despite the conditions of his undertaking, and an investigation ensued. On February 12th, 2020, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 12th, 2020.

UNLAWFUL USE OF CREDIT CARD

Cornwall, ON – Samantha Currier, 30, of Cornwall was arrested on February 12th, 2020 and charged with unlawful use of credit card. It is alleged on January 4th, 2020, the woman used a bank card that did not belong to her and police were contacted to investigate. On February 12th, 2020, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 12th, 2020.

SHOPLIFTING, FAIL TO ATTEND COURT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Lise Dufresne, 53, of Cornwall was arrested on February 12th, 2020 and charged with theft under $5000, failing to attend court, and two counts of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on January 16th, 2020, the woman attended a Cornwall Square business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as she left the store. It is further alleged on February 4th, 2020, the woman failed to attend court and an investigation ensued. On February 12th, 2020, the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. She was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 17th, 2020.
