No Scorn Like a Cornwall Woman’s BROKEN WINDOW Leads to Charge POLICE BLOTTER 030320 #CPS

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Cloe Dumont, 20, of Cornwall was arrested on March 2nd, 2020 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on February 16th, 2020, the woman attended a Second Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the item as she left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 2nd, 2020, the woman was in custody on an unrelated matter. She was charged accordingly and remained in custody to await a bail hearing.

ASSAULT, MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on March 2nd, 2020 and charged with assault, mischief under $5000, and threats. It is alleged during an altercation on March 2nd, the woman attended her ex-boyfriend’s residence and damaged a window. It is further alleged the woman assaulted her mother while at the residence and made threats to kill her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on April 7th, 2020. Her name was not released as it would identify the victims in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Jonathan Deruchie, 46, of Cornwall was arrested on March 2nd, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man breached his probation and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On March 2nd, 2020, a member of the Cornwall Police Service attended the courthouse as the man was in custody on an unrelated matter. The warrant was executed and the man remained in custody to await a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – A 26-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 2nd, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on February 27th, 2020 for a domestic-related offence and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On March 2nd, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on April 30th, 2020. His name was not released as the warrant stems from a domestic offence and would identify the victim in the matter.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Michael Farkas, 41, of Cornwall was arrested on March 3rd, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man sold a fraudulent cell phone to someone he did not know, in exchange for a quantity of money. Police were contacted and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On March 3rd, 2020, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.
