ACTIVE INVESTIGATION

Cornwall, ON – The Cornwall Police Service is currently conducting an investigation in the area of First Street and Millville Avenue, resulting in a heavy police presence. There is no threat to public safety, however, we are asking the public to please avoid the area to allow police to conduct the investigation.

SHOPLIFTING

Cornwall, ON – Trevor Williams, 31, of Cornwall was arrested on March 26th, 2020 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on January 8th, 2020, the man attended a Ninth Street business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 26th, 2020, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 2nd, 2020.

THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Lise Cyr, 58, of Cornwall was arrested on March 26th, 2020 and charged with theft under $5000. It is alleged on March 25th, 2020, the woman took a quantity of money from a man, without his permission, and police were contacted to investigate. On March 26th, 2020, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 11th, 2020.

THEFT UNDER $5000, MISCHIEF UNDER $5000, THREATS, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – James Quinn, 36, of Cornwall, ON was arrested on March 26th, 2020 and charged with theft under $5000, mischief under $5000, threats, and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on March 26th, 2020, the man attended a Montreal Road business and ripped a phone off the wall, causing damage to the wall, and further left the business with the phone. Police were contacted and located the man shortly thereafter, at which time he made threats to kill police. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 11th, 2020.

SHOPLIFTING, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Richard Marini, 55, of Cornwall was arrested on March 26th, 2020 and charged with three counts of theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged between March 25 and March 26, the man attended two Ninth Street businesses and on three occasions removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the stores on any occasion. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 26th, 2020, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 11th, 2020.

FRAUD UNDER $5000, THEFT OF CREDIT CARD, UNLAWFUL USE OF CREDIT CARD, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Amanda Lalonde, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on March 26th, 2020 and charged with the following:

• Fraud under $5000
• Theft of bank card
• Unlawful use of bank card
• Breach of probation x 2 (for failing to keep the peace)

It is alleged on January 28th, 2020, the woman took a bank card belonging to someone known to her without their permission and used the card to purchase items at a local convenience store. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 26th, 2020, a member of the Cornwall Police Service attended the courthouse as the woman was in custody on an unrelated matter. She was charged accordingly and remained in custody to await a bail hearing.

SEXUAL ASSAULT, SEXUAL INTERFERENCE, INVITATION TO SEXUAL TOUCHING

Cornwall, ON – A 20-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on March 26th, 2020 and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching. It is alleged between May and August 2019, the man sexually assaulted his girlfriend, who was under the age of 16. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On March 26th, 2020, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 11th, 2020. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

OPERATION WHILE PROHIBITED, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Cory Arial, 30, of Cornwall was arrested on March 25th, 2020 and charged with operation while prohibited and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on March 25th, the man was operating a motor vehicle while prohibited from doing so in the area of Eleventh Street and Pitt Street. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on June 2nd, 2020.
