Cessna Incident Blocks 401 on Monday Night

December 6, 2022 – The Stormont Dundas & Glengarry detachment (SD&G) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an airplane collision on highway 401, in front of the BainsvilleĀ ONroute in the south glengarry township.

On December 5, 2022, just before 8:15 p.m. OPP and the south glengarry fire department responded to an airplane collision involving a Cessna 150. One occupant was airlifted to hospital by Ornge with life-threatening injuries and the second occupant was transported to hospital by ambulance with nonlife threatening injuries.

Initial investigation indicates the airplane may have experienced mechanical problem after departing from the Valleyfield Quebec airport. The airplane encountered hydro wires prior to colliding in the centre median on highway 401.

Transportation Safety Board of Canada is assisting with the investigation.
