Cornwall ON – Most City administration offices will be closed for the holidays starting Friday December 24th at noon and will re-open Tuesday January 4th at 8:30 am.
Essential City services will be maintained throughout the holidays. Recreation facilities and Cornwall Transit will have minimal disruptions as noted below.
Garbage and Recycling
No changes will be occurring for garbage and recycling collection. Collection will take place on it’s regularly scheduled days.
Bus Service
Cornwall Transit will operate at a reduced schedule during the holidays. On Christmas Eve the last bus leaves downtown at 6:15 pm. There will be no bus service on Christmas. Service resumes on Monday December 27th. On New Year’s Eve the last bus leaves downtown at 6:15 pm. There will be no bus service on New Year’s Day. On January 3rd bus service returns to its normal schedule.
Cornwall Transit Office
The Cornwall Transit office will be closed on December 24th at noon. The Transit Office will re-open on December 29th and 30th and will close on December 31st at noon and will remain closed until January 3rd. Regular office hours will resume on Tuesday January 4th.
Recreation Services
Recreation facilities will be operating on modified schedules during the holiday season.
The Aquatic Centre will be closing on Christmas Eve at noon and will remain closed on Christmas. The Centre will be open on Boxing Day from 1pm to 3:25 pm. The centre opens December 27th until the 30th with a full regular schedule. It will close again at noon on New Year’s Eve and will remain closed for New Year’s Day. The Aquatic Centre will return to its normal schedule on January 2nd.
The Bob Turner and Si Miller Arenas will be closed on Christmas Eve at noon as well as Christmas and Boxing Day. They will also close on New Year’s Eve at noon and New Year’s Day.
The Civic Complex will be closed on Christmas Eve at noon and Christmas Day. They will also close New Year’s Eve at noon and New Year’s Day.
Library Services
The Cornwall Public Library will be operating on a modified schedule. It will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. From December 27th to the 30th the Library will be open from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm and 9:30 am to 12:30 pm on New Year’s Eve. The Library will be closed on New Year’s Day. Regular hours of operation resume as of January 3rd.
The Cornwall Public Library will be offering a family holiday movie event every day between December 27th and December 30th at 2 pm. For more information on the events please visit www.library.cornwall.on.ca.
Cornwall Landfill Site
The Cornwall Landfill Site will have minimal reduced hours of operation during the holidays. The Site will close at noon on Christmas Eve and will remain closed for Christmas. The Site will also close at noon on New Year’s Eve and will remain closed for New Year’s Day.
Christmas Tree Collection
Christmas Tree collection begins January 10th and ends on January 14th. Christmas trees will be collected the same day as your regular garbage day.
