CFN – Nominations are now being accepted for Canada’s Favourite Crossing Guards. If you know a school crossing guard who is currently working and does an exceptional job at keeping kids safe, tell us why they should be selected as one of Canada’s favourites.
From now until November 24, 2014, nominations will be accepted from students, educators, parents and community leaders from across the country who believe they have an outstanding school crossing guard in their community because of the important role they play in pedestrian safety by helping children stay safe.
Winners will be announced in early December and will participate in a local awards celebration at their near-by school.
To learn more about Canada’s Favourite Crossing Guard contest, organized by Parachute and FedEx, or to nominate a school crossing guard, visit Canada’s Favourite Crossing Guard Contest. This annual contest is part of the Walk This Way pedestrian safety program aimed at reducing pedestrian injuries to Canadian children by raising motorist awareness and making school zones more walkable.
Parachute is generously funded by FedEx Express Canada to provide the Walk This Way pedestrian safety program year-round, providing education, resources and support for parents and community groups to increase the safety of their streets.
Parachute is dedicated to preventing injuries and saving lives. A national charity, Parachute officially formed in July 2012, when the former Safe Communities Canada, Safe Kids Canada, SMARTRISK and ThinkFirst Canada joined together to become one leader in injury prevention. Parachute’s injury prevention solutions, knowledge mobilization, public policy, and social awareness efforts are designed to help keep Canadians safe. Parachute’s vision is an injury-free Canada with Canadians living long lives to the fullest. For information, visit us at parachutecanada.org, follow us on Twitter, and join us on Facebook.
