Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 119 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on June 1, 2017. Of these, 86 calls occurred in the city central area, 21 in the west end, 5 in the east end, and 1 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

• 1 drunk call

• 7 assist citizen calls
• 2 break and enter calls
• 8 theft calls
• 3 shoplifting calls
• 8 motor vehicle collisions
• 3 parking/vehicle complaints
• 3 driving complaints
• 2 traffic concerns
• 9 suspicious activity calls
• 1 trespass/prowler call
• 1 panhandling call
• 5 drug calls

There were 7 individuals arrested within the last 24 hours including 6 men and 1 woman, between 17 and 51 years of age, for the following: utter threats to cause death, theft of credit card, use of a stolen credit card, fraud under $5000, assault, obstruct police, and breach of probation. Four persons were arrested on outstanding warrants.

Rash of Thefts from Vehicles in West End Overnight

A rash of thefts from vehicles occurred overnight from June 1 to 2, 2017. Numerous vehicles parked on various streets near Midland Avenue were entered. Various items including wallets, GPS units, tools, and sunglasses were stolen. In almost every incident the vehicle was not damaged and had been left unlocked.

Police want to remind residents to lock your vehicles and avoid leaving valuable items in plain view or in your vehicle at all. Thieves will almost always move on rather than force their way into a locked vehicle and risk being caught.

Man Arrested after Multiple Victims Receive Death Threats

A 22-year-old local man has been arrested making numerous death threats to three victims.

On June 1, 2017 at approximately 6:30 p.m. three female victims between 19 and 21 years of age began receiving threats from the accused. The victims had been at the accused west end motel approximately 15 minutes earlier. The accused was upset with the victims for leaving and he began threatening them through text messages, voicemails and phone calls.

The accused allegedly threatened to slit their throats and kill their families. The victims were fearful of the threats that included warnings that the accused knew where they lived and was capable of getting away with murder.

Police located the accused at his residence and arrested him without incident. The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with three counts of utter threats to cause death and breach of probation.

May 9 Assault Suspect Caught by Observant Patrol Officer at End of Shift

A 25-year-old local man who assaulted a Good Samaritan on May 9 found himself in handcuffs thanks to an observant patrol officer.

On June 1, 2017 at approximately 6:45 p.m. a patrol officer heading to police headquarters for end of shift noticed a man matching the description of the May 9 assault suspect. The man was walking in the area of Division Street and Adelaide Street. The officer stopped the man to investigate, but after giving a false name and being questioned he fled on foot. The man was apprehended after a short foot chase.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day. The accused was charged with assault, obstruct and two counts of breach probation.

Police Seeking Assistance in Identifying Assault Suspect

On May 9, 2017 at approximately 3:45 p.m. the victim was at a store in the area of Princess Street and Bagot Street. The victim observed the suspect shoplifting from the store. When the suspect observed the victim taking photos of him outside the store, he ran up and punched the victim several times in the head.
