Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 100 calls for service during the 24 hour period starting from 5:00 a.m. on December 18, 2017. Of these, 68 calls occurred in the city central area, 10 in the west end, 4 in the east end, and 2 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

• 5 domestic calls
• 2 assault calls
• 4 harassment calls
• 4 undesirable calls
• 1 drunk call
• 4 alarm calls
• 2 noise complaints
• 3 missing person calls
• 6 medical assist calls
• 4 assist citizen calls
• 5 theft calls
• 1 shoplifting call
• 2 mischief calls
• 3 fraud calls
• 16 motor vehicle collisions
• 2 driving complaints
• 1 traffic concern
• 5 suspicious activity calls
• 1 trespass/prowler call
• 2 drug calls

There were 5 men arrested within the last 24 hours, between 23 and 37 years of age, for the following: assault, mischief, cause disturbance by being drunk, public intoxication, breach recognizance, and breach probation.

Well-Being Check on Wolfe Island Ends in Arrest

Kingston Police have been investigating a 37-year-old local man for allegedly breaching numerous court ordered conditions, including consuming alcohol and crystal methamphetamine. Detectives learned the accused began breaching on the day of his release and has been consistently doing so, since then.

On December 18, 2017 at approximately 7:45 p.m. police received information that the accused was at his residence on Wolfe Island. Officers attended the address to check on the well-being of the residents and attempt to locate the accused.

When officers arrived at the address they found a female with whom the accused was on conditions not to associate. As officers made their way to the back, the female claimed no one else was there. A search of the bedroom led to the discovery of the accused hiding under the bed.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with seven counts of breach recognizance.

Man Attempts to Steal Gas while Officer is Filling Up Cruiser

A 36-year-old Harrowsmith man was arrested after a failed attempt to steal fuel while an officer was at the gas station.

On December 18, 2017 at approximately 4:15 p.m. the accused attended a gas station on Division Street. The accused pumped $60 worth of fuel before entering the store and advising staff he did not have money to pay. The accused allegedly claimed he would return with money and then wrote a false name on a piece before quickly fleeing the store.

Staff alerted an officer who was also getting fuel and the officer stopped the accused. The accused was properly identified and found to be wanted. During a search of the accused, officers found a concealed can of bear spray.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charge with carry concealed weapon, and theft.

The accused was charged with seven counts of breach recognizance.
