ARREST MADE IN DRUG TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION
Cornwall, ON – On June 5th, 2018 the Cornwall Community Police Service Street Crime Unit (SCU), concluded a drug trafficking investigation that resulted in the arrest of a Cornwall resident. A Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant was executed at an Augustus Street residence, resulting in the following items being seized:
- 323.9 grams of cocaine
- 3.4 grams of heroin
- 15.2 grams of marijuana
The seized drugs are valued at an estimated street value of approximately $33,000.00.
Muhammed Faruq Chughtai, 29, of Cornwall was arrested on June 5th, 2018, was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on July 17th, 2018. He was charged with the following:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking heroin
- Possession of property obtained by crime

WARRANT
Cornwall, ON – Barry McVey, 51, of Cornwall was arrested on June 5th, 2018 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man failed to attend court on June 5th, 2018 for breaches and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On June 5th, 2018, the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.
POSSESSION, POSSESSION FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING, DRIVE WHILE DISQUALIFIED
Cornwall, ON – Katlen Moore, 26, of Cornwall was arrested on June 5th, 2018 and charged with possession of cocaine, marijuana and hydromorph-contin. She was also charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and drive while disqualified. It is alleged the woman was found to be in possession of cocaine, marijuana and hydromorph-contin during a traffic stop on June 3rd, 2018, at which time she fled the area. On June 5th, 2018 she was located by police and taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court June 19th, 2018.
ASSAULT, THREATS
Cornwall, ON – A 51-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on June 5th, 2018 and charged with assault and threats. It is alleged during an argument on June 4th, 2018 the man threatened to harm his common-law wife and assaulted her. He allegedly assaulted her once again on June 5th, 2018 and police were contacted to investigate. During the investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.
