Chaque année ce forum rassemble plus d’une centaine de participants venus de tout l’Ontario qui viennent échanger et réfléchir ensemble. Pour cette quatrième édition le CESOC et le Réseau ont souhaité élargir la portée de ce forum en invitant des acteurs économiques et sociaux mais aussi les municipalités car celles-ci jouent un rôle primordial dans l’accueil des nouveaux arrivants.
Le jeudi 4 mars 2010, à partir de 18h au Ramada Inn, les participants seront conviés à un cocktail de bienvenue et pourront ainsi établir un premier contact avec les autres invités. La journée du vendredi comprendra plusieurs présentations.
Celles-ci aborderont des sujets tels que : l’importance et le rôle que tient l’immigration dans le développement socio-économique d’une communauté, les ressources dont peuvent disposer les employeurs pour embaucher et intégrer avec succès des professionnels formés à l’étranger, mais aussi la place que tiennent l’éducation, les associations sociales et la culture dans l’intégration des nouveaux arrivants.
(Ottawa, March 1, 2010) “Welcome Warmly In Order To Grow Together” is the theme for the 4th annual forum hosted by Economic and Social Council of Ottawa-Carleton (CESOC) and its francophone immigration support network for Eastern Ontario. The event takes place in Cornwall at the Ramada Inn on Friday, March 5, 2010.
Each year over 100 participants from across the province gather to share ideas and experiences. This year, organizers hope to expand the participant pool by inviting major players in both social and economic development sectors as well as municipalities since they all play a role in welcoming new Canadians to the country.
Everything kicks off with social cocktails at 6pm on Thursday evening (March 4) at the Ramada Inn. Friday’s schedule will see a series of presentations with a wide variety of topics such as the importance of immigration in the socio-economic development of a community, resources for employers who want to hire and integrate immigrants in their workplace as well as how education, social service agencies and culture help integrate immigrants to their new community.
The forum is open to everyone. This event is made possible thanks to the financial support from the SD&G Community Futures Development Corporation and the city of Cornwall. CESOC and its francophone immigration support network for Eastern Ontario is funded through the federal Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration.
