Calls for Service

Kingston Police had 323 calls for service over the weekend of June 16-18, 2017. Of these, 215 calls occurred in the city central area, 52 in the west end, 20 in the east end, and 2 north of Highway 401. Some of these included:

  • 13 motor vehicle collisions
  • 2 impaired driving calls
  • 2 parking/vehicle complaints

  • 24 suspicious activity calls
  • 4 trespass/prowler calls

There were 16 individuals arrested over the weekend of June 16-18, 2017 including 12 men and 4 women, between 23 and 57 years of age, for the following: resist arrest, assault police, intimidation by hiding property, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, mischief under $5000, impaired driving, fail to provide breath sample, assault, assault with a weapon, sexual assault, possession of break-in tools, break and enter non-dwelling, theft under $5000, breach recognizance, and breach of probation

Woman Assaults Officer with Shoe

A 32-year-old local woman hit an officer with ahershoe and attempted to bite officers after she was arrested for breaching he release conditions.

On June 18, 2017 at approximately 10:15 p.m. a patrol officer was approached by citizens regarding a woman screaming in the bushes near Cassidy Street and Montreal Street. The officer located the woman laying down amongst trees. The officer determined the woman was intoxicated by alcohol. The woman attempted to flee, but was having trouble standing and running.

The woman was found to be on release conditions that included not being outside her residence with alcohol in her system. When officers moved to arrest her, she attempted to run away and then resisted at one point striking one officer with her shoe while kicking and screaming.

At police headquarters the accused attempted to flee again. The accused had to be physically escorted to the cells at which point she attempted to bite the arresting officers. Once placed in the cell she grabbed officer’s legs and attempted to bite them again.

The accused was held to attend a bail hearing the following day. She was charged with resist arrest, assault police, and two counts of breach recognizance.

Man Facing Several Charges after Trashing Residence

A 27-year-old local man was arrested after going on a rampage and trashing the family residence.

On June 17, 2017 the victim and the accused (common-law) were at their west end address near Taylor Kidd Boulevard and Bayridge Drive. The accused allegedly began drinking and became belligerent. At one point the accused took the victim’s cellphone, refused to return it and threatened to hit the victim.

The accused eventually left the residence, but when he returned later in the evening he began yelling and screaming at the victim over relationship issues. Fearful of the accused, the victim and a friend gathered up the children and took them outside. The accused began making a mess and damaging the residence along with various items in the kitchen and living room area.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. police were called and the accused was arrested. The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with intimidation by hiding property, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, mischief under $5000, and breach of probation.

Police Respond to Report of Suspected Impaired Driver with Child in Car

A 44-year-old man from Bath was arrested for impaired driving with his young child in the vehicle.

On June 17, 2017 at approximately 6:15 p.m. the accused was seen getting into his vehicle with a young child in the downtown area. Police then received calls from multiple witnesses concerned about the accused sobriety and the operation of the vehicle.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. a patrol officer located the vehicle travelling westbound on Brock Street. The vehicle began to speed up and started making multiple land changes and turns. With the assistance of additional units the vehicle was brought to a safe stop and blocked in at the intersection of Bath Road and Portsmouth Avenue.

The accused was arrested for impaired driving. The child was upset but uninjured. The accused was transported to police headquarters where he refused to provide breath samples.

The accused was charged with impaired driving and fail to provide breath sample.

The accused was later released on a Promise to Appear (PTA) with a future court date. His driver’s licence is automatically suspended for 90 days and would face a one year suspension if convicted. The vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days, with the accused being responsible for all fees and fines.

Man Wields Knife at Family Members and Assaults Police

A 23-year-old local man is facing multiple charges after wielding a knife at family members and then assaulting police.

On June 16, 2017 at approximately 6:30 p.m. officers responded to a report of a fight in progress at a west end residence. Detectives in the area responded first and entered the residence where they found the accused being held down by family members. The accused resisted arrested by refusing to remove his hand from underneath his body.

Once the accused was under control and handcuffed, officers learned the accused had become assaultive with family after being confronted over his drinking. An altercation ensued and the accused grabbed a butcher knife from the kitchen and came after one family member.

When the accused was escorted outside to the cruiser he kicked at the Detectives and attempted to stomp on their feet. Use of force was required to gain compliance.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The accused was charged with assault with a weapon, resist arrest, and two counts of assault police.

Man and Woman Both Charged After Domestic Altercation

17-18346 / 17-18359

A 48-year-old man and 45-year-old both from Joyceville have been charged after a domestic altercation.

On June 16, 2107 at approximately 10:00 p.m. officers were called to Joyceville address for a report of a domestic assault. The female complainant reported that her ex common-law had choked her and thrown her around her residence.

Officers attended the nearby residence of the male party to investigate and learned that the female had in fact attended his residence. An argument escalated into a physical altercation and both parties assaulted each other.

Both were arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

Both accused were charged with assault.
