With a record amount of dancers, super food, and a pleasant and welcoming enviorment the 2009 Akwesasne pleased all that attended!
“It’s a chance for us to share our culture,” said Akwesasne Chief Larry King, the co-chair of the pow-wow.
Now in its ninth year, the pow-wow has grown to become one of the biggest community events for Akwesasne and the many dancers who follow the pow-wow trail across the continent.
“A lot of them come every year,” King said of the dancers. “We’ve got a nice pow-wow family.”
There was a total of 254 registered dancers, — which is up from last year — along with 53 “tiny tots” who danced under the sunny skies in their full regalia.”
There were no issues reported on the bridge or border crossing as of press time. Kudos to all those involved in making the Pow Wow a huge success this year!
