Now that Autumn is upon us it’s time to get ready for the highest of high holidays on the Queer calendar, Saturday, October 31st. Yup, that’s right, Halloween is coming fast and Pride/Fierté Cornwall is celebrating with our Halloween Hullabaloo!
We’re going all out for this one by staging it at one of the city’s best halls – the Cabaret Room at the Best Western Parkway Inn, 1515 Vincent Massey Drive. Admission is $10.00 at the door, which will open at 9:00 pm and includes a late night buffet. You must be of legal drinking age (19) for admittance. We’ll be handing out prizes for outstanding costumes and we’ll be putting on our usual 50/50 draw. We’ve also got a few other surprises up our sleeves which we’re sure will thoroughly delight you. Jumpin’ Jim Landriault of Polar Sound will be our DJ for the evening.
This event marks the start of a new chapter in Pride/Fierté Cornwall’s history. You’ll likely remember that this was to be Pride’s last ever function before disbanding. Instead, thanks to the initiatives of some very inventive and passionate young adults in the Queer community, it’s going to be a celebration of new life and a new energy. Plans are currently underway to solicit candidates over the coming weeks for an election for a new executive committee; we’ll be issuing a media advisory very soon about it. This party may well indeed be where a new board is formally introduced. In the meantime, keep your eye on our website to stay in the loop.
