Karen Turchetto has been one busy woman this week. She’s running around Cornwall picking up cheques and hitting a home run for the United Way of SD&G.
They had a goal of raising $622,500.00 this year and I wouldn’t be surprised if they raise way over $700K!
Here is Karen Turchetto with Bibiane Dumont (left) from OPSEU Local 453 who stopped by and donated $500.00 to the United Way Campaign.
It’s amazing how even during the recession which is especially hitting Cornwall that people still dig deep and contribute to such a worthy cause.
The United Way serves 18 different charities in the area.
Candian Tire Dollar Days raised over $4000.00 for United Way and with a Scotiabank Match, this year this event raised $5490.00. Seen in the picture with Karen Turchetto is Jim Lavigne, owner of Canadian Tire.
There are so many different companies pulling together, big and small. Again, the United Way is about people and everyone can help contribute.

Andre Pommier of Pommier Jewellers and the gang from Corus for donate the $5,000 dollar cheque from the Angel Program. There still are 70 Angel Ornaments left to purchase and they are gorgeous!
Even Darlene Jalbert, one of the board members is driving hard to the finish line!
WE ARE ALMOST THERE!!!
The United Way Campaign comes to a close this Friday, and we are so close to the goal, but not there yet.
After two years of not making goal and having to cut vital funding to needed agencies, this year we are very close. That is why I am sending you this last appeal for help.
Thank you for taking time to read and consider this message, may each and every one of you have a very Merry Christmas, and peace, health and happiness in the coming year!
