Social Development Council of Cornwall & Area announces new Executive Director
Cornwall Ontario – Board members of the Social Development Council have selected a new Executive Director to lead the non-profit organization currently being funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. Jody Souka-Marleau, a professor at St. Lawrence College and board member of the SDC, is pleased to officially announce and welcome Michelle Gratton to the Council.
Miss Gratton is a Cornwall native and a graduate from St. Lawrence College. She also has held a variety of social service related positions in the Cornwall area. Her compassion and active role as an advocate for vulnerable populations in the community is what makes her an asset to the organization’s vision of building stronger communities. Michelle has actually been a magnificent force with the organization since she first started as a field placement student which then led to her role as the Council’s first Project Lead Assistant.
In making the official announcement, Jody Souka-Marleau stated that “Michelle is passionate in her actions to want to help people who are less fortunate. She uses this energy and determination to fuel her ability to accomplish concrete, community based goals. It is her assertive and heartfelt style that has led her into the Executive Director position. As a Board, we were looking for an individual who has regional and provincial familiarity to end poverty and who identifies with the importance of the local determinants of health. Michelle naturally fits the description”.
The Social Development Council of Cornwall & Area is an independent, non-profit organization that successfully continues to promote social change by actively participating in building and strengthening the community through public education, research, innovation and facilitation.
