Warriors proud to announce first Head Coach

The Akwesasne Warriors are proud to announce the signing of the first Head Coach in franchise history Joe Phillips. “We have been interviewing several candidates to find the right man for the job, someone who’s diligent, poised with conviction and ready to make a difference in the world of Single “A” Professional hockey. We can’t wait to hit the ice in October for training camp with Phillips at the wheel”, states Owner Basem Awwad.

Joe Phillips will be beginning his first season as the Head Coach for the Akwesasne Warriors of the Federal Hockey Leagues inaugural season. Before accepting this position with Akwesasne, Joe spent four seasons as a coach with the Varsity Massena Central- NYS Division I team. Joe also held the position of assistant coach and Head coach for the Akwesasne Wolves junior B hockey team. Mr. Phillips is a well accomplished coach in the Box lacrosse world, having coached several teams ranging from High School, College, Junior and Senior A.  Joe Phillips graduated and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY.  He later received his master’s degree at SUNY Potsdam, NY.

Be on the lookout as the Akwesasne Warriors are holding an open tryout in Ottawa between April 30th and May 2nd at the Ray Friel Arena.  To register for the tryout fill out the registration form on the website and email it to bawwad@akwesasnewarriors.com .   1. Reg Leach former Pro with Philadelphia Flyers and Junior with Flin Flon Bombers recieved a Order of
    CANADA award. Last heard he was Coaching Junior in Ontario.
    Congraulations to a former 2 time Stanley Cup Champion and possibly a candidate
    for Minor Pro Coaching.
    I am a former Senior A and Junior A hockey player but just a observer and student of The game.
