Cornwall ON – The Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry Federal NDP Riding Association invites you to attend the 2010 edition of their annual Tommy Douglas Dinner. Peter Stoffer, MP for Sackville-Eastern Shore and the Federal NDP’s Veterans Affairs critic, will be the guest speaker.
The dinner will be on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club, Highway Two East, just past the city limits on the way to Glen Walter.
Cocktails will be served at 6:00 pm and the dinner agenda will begin at 7:00 pm. (Your choice of Chicken Marsala or a vegetarian alternative.) Admission is $100.00, which includes a political contribution receipt for that amount minus the cost of the meal. Tables for eight are available.
Now is the best time to contribute to our local NDP federal riding association even if you’re not able to attend this event. As part of its “Local Victories Challenge”, the NDP will match every dollar we raise in local fundraising activities with fifty cents between March 1 and April 30. For example, if $6,000 is raised locally in March and April, the federal NDP will transfer $3,000 to the federal riding association. This will give a much needed boost in our efforts to defeat Stephen Harper and the Conservatives in the next election.
Don’t forget that Elections Canada provisions entitle you to generous tax credits for this and similar political donations. The scale goes like this:
– A 75% credit for donations up to $400
– A 50% credit for donations between $401 and $750
– A 33.3% credit for donations between $751 and $1100
