HOCKEY DAY WITH KENTON
Hello,
I am extending this invitation to you as a friend, and ask that you join us, as a community, in lending support to our friend Kenton Spink. Kenton is battling cancer for the second time in less than a year. He has been undergoing expensive treatments that are required to build up his strength in order for him to best fight this horrible disease. Anyone that has been affected by cancer knows how taxing it can be physically, mentally, and emotionally on a family. You can help Kenton, his wife Kathy and his three great boys, Tyson, Tylor and Tanner by supporting an awesome event to be held in their honour.
As many of you know Kenton and his family are all about hockey:
-Kenton played on the first Char-Lan Rebels junior team
-Kenton coached all of his boys for many years at different levels
-Kenton and Kathy have been actively involved in the Seaway Valley Minor Hockey Association
-Tanner played for Eastern Ontario AAA this past season
-Tyson and Tylor played for the Char-Lan Rebels Jr. B and the Cornwall Colts Jr. A over the past two seasons
-All of the boys have played in the Char-Lan and Seaway Valley Minor Hockey Associations
On Saturday, May 8th, 2010 we are hosting the ATT & T Hockey Games at the Cornwall Civic Centre from 5:00-8:00 p.m . The first game is for players 16 and under and will be captained by son Tanner and nephew Austin Coleman. The second game is for players 17 and over and will be captained by sons Tyson and Tylor. Each team will have 15 players. A $ 250 donation is being asked for each player. For those of you that don’t play but still want to make a donation, you can either; sponsor a player, donate at the door, make a bid at the silent auction or bid on the outstanding items of our live auction, hosted by Randy Tieman of CTV.
• If the demand requires that we need an additional game to accommodate the number of players, we will start the event at 4:00pm. This will be determined by next weekend. The silent auction will be held in the Hall Of Fame Room at the Complex where you will be able to enjoy drinks and food (cash bar) while watching the games. Immediately after the games, Randy will close the silent auction and proceed with the live auction (see list of auction items below).
It is hard to find better people than the Spink family. They would never ask for help, but let’s all chip in and help them out in this tough and dark chapter in their lives. We all know they would be the first to help us out!!!

N.B. – as this is being written, news came in that Kenton’s surgery to remove the tumour in his neck today, went very well. We wish him a quick, and successful recovery .
