Leafs Don’t Fall in 3-2 Win over Carey Price and the Habs – NHL Opening Day – Cornwall Ontario – October 7, 2010

Cornwall ON – Montreal could’ve used Steve Shutt tonight, or Mike Cammallieri in their 3-2 opening season loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Toronto didn’t play that well.  Nobody was +2 for the evening.   The difference was the goaltending as Montreal out shot the leafs but gave up that one more goal that made the difference.

Newcomers Jeff Halpern and Dustin Boyd scored for Montreal who allowed Phil Kessel  to register 5 shots on net for the evening; hardly holding the Leafs only real threat.

It may a long season indeed.   In other NHL scores Carolina edged Minnesota who somehow have become really really bad although Guilliame Latendresse scored his first of the season.

Philly edged Pittsburgh on Claude Giroux’s short handed goal.  Chicago at Colorado and the battle of Alberta are still not final.  We’ll update the story for you as soon as the scores are available.

What do you think of opening night hockey fans?  Any surprises?  Any kudos or beefs?  You can post your comment below.
