Cornwall ON – Leafs fans cried tonight, but not as loudly as those whiny Sens fans as Toronto lost its first game of the year, 2-1 in over time to the lowly New York Islanders. Phil Kessel scored a goal, but it wasn’t enough as the Leafs lose their first game of the 2010-11 season. John Tavares scored the winner in OT.
Ottawa was blown out in the first period and never caught up as the Penguins clipped them 5-2. The Avalanche snowed in the Rangers, in NY 3-1; Domenic Moore’s two goals helped Tampa Bay edge Dallas 5-4; and the Chicago Black Hawks gave Jaroslav Halak the blues with their 3-2 OT win over St. Louis.
In other NHL news Shane Doan is $73,387.11 poorer after whacking Dan Sexton in the head. He was given a 3 day suspension for the infraction that drew no penalty during the game.
