Cornwall ON – Sometimes you just play your best players and things work out. That happened tonight as Brian Gionta grabbed a point and Andrei Markov scored his first goal of the year in Montreal’s 2-0 shut out of the Vancouver Canucks in Montreal.
The team waiving Dustin Boyd probably shook up the dressing room a bit and added some cap space for the Habs to perhaps find someone to join the Gionta and Gomez line; maybe someone like Bill Guerin?
Former Hab Dan Ellis shut out the Toronto Maple Leafs giving Tampa Bay a much needed win; Jason Spezza’s 2 goals led Ottawa to a 5-2 win over Atlanta as Ottawa creeps back up the conference standings; Carolina destroyed the Oilers 7-1. I’m thinking some panic bells are going off in Northern Alberta just about now…; The Caps out dueled the Rangers 5-3;
Calgary doubled Colorado 4-2 in a much needed victory, and Anaheim edgedt San Jose 3-2.
