Cornwall ON – Geez I had a busy day and night. It started early. We interviewed Eric Duncan on Seawayradio.com. Yes, I know, Eric is that MP who doesn’t respect his constiuents, and actually is proud of his $130K plus in mailings this last year’s assistant, but he’s also won an election and became a mayor at 22!
It was interesting to see someone so young so polished and it made me think that our MP, the Justice Minister threatening thug, is very lucky to have such a barracuda working for and guiding him.
I’m thinking that Mr. Duncun will have quite the future replacing you know who…..
Then it was off to visit some clients, listen to the latest gossip and innuendo, find out what pathetic plots and ploys were going on; wrassle a bit with the Chamber of Commerce over their perceived favortism for Corus radio stations here in town before I could go to the Chamber Mixer at Aux Vieux Duluth which is a remarkably lovely room.
The usual suspects marched in…the thousands of Corus Radio crew…the city councilors…..the desperate and needy….some straggling media types hungrily eyeing the munchie trays…..and a lot of poseurs, and a few people who probably weren’t sure why they were there but seemed to be having a mighty good time.
It was a hoot to see that (my word is bird poop) Mike from Mix 96 and his crew show up. His latest prize was our sales rep of the week. For those of you who don’t know the Seinfeldian running joke is that we’ll never get a sales rep. They either are insane, out of prison or just broken up with their spouse, or are amazingly talented and poached even though they’ve signed contracts!
It’s people like Kris Ward that help with some of the venom from some of these media vipers stings, and talking about her and her son Brad’s excitement over his first Artpreneur event this weekend past more than made up for that swirl of negativity. If you haven’t seen some of his art it’s amazing and he writes too!
Listening to “Flash” talk about watching sports with his six month old son was about as warm and fuzzy as those old phone commercials ever could hope to get. It’s amazing how children change us. Kudos to him and his gig with Centreville, or HOC, or I’m not 100% sure what, and we still want him to come out of retirement and write for Seaway Today this Spring.
It was a mixer that required….some mix, but there was some lovely conversation and some very nice people. It was good to see Ms Bernadette Clement radiating from her vacation down South, and there were some big smiles on Double D’s faces as well. Mayor Kilger looked recovered from the rigors of the Election(apparently the tix I handed over to the talented Vanessa Regenier won us lunch with his worship) and Elaine MacDonald was having a super time. Jeff Brunet was there talking up our new Arts Committee too. It was good to see Angela Besner too as she seems totally into her new gig!
Hamida Hafizi and Scott Beck from Freedom 55 chatted me up also, as well as some new faces I hadn’t met before.
The posse from the TD bank were super to talk to also. It makes me glad I have an account with them and just may move our newspaper account over there after chatting with them although I have a hunch they’d prefer our house mortgage!
I wanted to stay longer, but had that Green Party thing to do so I headed over there and we had a fun meeting. I personally love creating things. I love to see them nurture and grow, and do the unexpected which happened tonight, but that’s for a whoooole other piece.
I had the munchies after going Green, and headed over to Panda House for some take out. As I end my 15 hour day I ponder what the heck I’m going to write about tomorrow other than the NHL scores….but I have faith in you Cornwall, in Ontario, in Canada that there will be something to share…..or I’ll just make something up.
Tomorrow is a busy day. I have to write this amazing story for the DBIA Christmas House Tour and we shoot our TV commercial at Truffles at 2 in the afternoon!
How was your day Canada? You can post your comments below…..
Jamie ~~~
It appears to me that you have something against the Chamber of Commerce? I thought you were a active member, I might also point out there is a difference in editorializing and commenting.
For those of you wanting a better brighter world…thought I would share this information that landed in my mail.

Tiffany – dictionary.com – not only will you be able to learn how to spell, but also understand what big words like that mean. Cheers to you and your wacko group. Keep up those 96 minutes of commercial free radio!
Didn’t ask to be put down, was just a question…….
Hi Joe,
Thank you for posting. I love the Chamber. I love the concept of the Chamber. Chambers of Commerce, when run well, achieve amazing things for their community.
TALK ABOUT NEW AGE SPIRITUALISM – the Age of Aquarius is coming!
Jacqueline says (from Earth Matters?): “Global Meditation 11:11 A Million Hearts Together Creating Our World Watch this fantastic short video http://www.newrealitytransmission.com/”
“Together Creating Our World”! No we can not create anything but God can – by The Lord Jesus Christ, His Son. But you all may follow the New Age gurus as they crown Antichrist as Caesar, in the New World order to come. We are one! “May the Force be with you!”(God forbid).
Yet again , the seriously delusional preacher can’t resist putting down and mocking the beliefs of others.
tnpreacher555, prove to me there is a god.
willie191: I don’t have to prove to you that there is a God! God is big enough to do it Himself!
Psalm 19:1-3 “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. 2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard”.
Romans 1:19-20 “Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse”.
Willie and the preacher bit on each others bait. Let the lunacy begin!!!
I certainly did furtz. Sundays can be boring, lol
Hey Willie, I’ve done the same just to have a little entertainment, but it soon got to be pretty boring. All his “talking points” come from one book. Someone once said “I will not engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.” That’s probably the gentlemanly approach.
I see the pastor is cracking wise again…
Glad you had a time mixing with the other half of Cornwall. I knew they were out there somewhere. I had a busy half hour this weekend. I down loaded 114 books to my Kindle. The bible took one minute. Complete Shakespeare – 45 seconds. They should be dropping these things from the bellies of planes.
