The St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences hosts The Magic of Chemistry – Science and Nature Speaker Series Yannick Bergeron – Cornwall Ontario – November 24, 2010

Cornwall ON – Yannick Bergeron is a teacher whose passion for science is contagious.  A facilitator and trainer for the Club des Débrouillards (a province-wide network of science clubs); a designer of experiments; an author of educational materials; a judge at science fairs; a dynamic presenter – these are just some of the ways this versatile science communicator puts his skills to work to encourage others to take an interest in science.

On Wednesday, November 24 at 7 pm, Yannick brings his chemistry show, “La Magie de la chimie (the Magic of Chemistry)” to the Cornwall Public Library.  You will see a spectacle of demonstrations and wonders of chemistry, all mixed up with laughter, music and fun.  Yannick is the ‘crazy scientist’ of his time – his teaching skills helped earn him an NSERC Award for Science Promotion. Sporting his trademark rainbow-coloured lab coat, he puts the same boundless energy into promoting science in the classroom as he does to the wider community.

La magie de la chimie is presented primarily in French, with explanations in English; however, it is a visual show that everyone will enjoy.

The Science and Nature Speaker Series is presented by the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences in collaboration with the Cornwall Public Library.  Admission is free, however, space is limited.  To reserve your spot, please call the River Institute at 613-936-6620.
