Habs Sting Buffalo 3-1; Sens Shut Out Sens 3-1 – NHL Scores – November 28, 2010 – Cornwall Ontario

Cornwall ON – Montreal beat the Sabres 3-1.   It was a good game for the Habs.   Captain Brian Gionta scored 2 goals; Andrei Kostitsyn added another.   Scott Gomez is still in a $7m funk.    I’m not sure why and I’m sure he’s sure why.

Montreal is winning in spite of Mr. Gomez and others who are eating up ice time without putting points up.    Winning is good, but eventually the hockey gods catch up with you.

Can you short bench in the play offs as much with an older squad?   How effective in the play offs will Carey Price be if he plays a Brodeuresque 70 games in the regular season?

This is a contract year for Andrei Kostitsyn.    Do you resign the moody winger or do you put him in a deal to get you a piece of the pie?

Many Habs questions; very few answers.  The good thing is that the team is winning while we all ponder….

Ottawa shut out the Leafs 3-0.   Mike Fisher potted 2 for the Hockey Night in Canada broadcast with Andrei Kovalev adding the other.  The Ottawa fans got their monies worth in this with and Brian Elliot added another W to his column.   He’s looking more and more like the team’s number one goalie.   He kicked out 29 saves for his shut out.

New Jersey picked up a rare win in the shoot out 2-1 vs Philly; Sidney Crosby got the Hat trick and the Penguins extinguished the Flames 4-1; The Panthers edged Tampa 4-3 in the shoot out;  two 3rd period goals gave Dallas a 2-1 victory over the Blues; the Rangers needed the shoot out to beat Nashville 2-1.

Bobby Ryan put up a hat trick in Anaheim’s 6-4 win versus Phoenix; former Hab Ryan O’Bryne notched an assist as the Avalanche tamed the Wild 7-4.   Kudos to Ryan who’s been logging in manly minutes for his new team.

Dany Heatley’s 2 goals were the difference in San Jose’s 4-3 victory against the Oiler; and Patrick Kane scored the winner for Chicago in their 2-1 victory over Los Angeles.

Future Hall of Famer Mike Modano suffered a wrist injury that may end the 40 year old centre’s career.   Mr Modano had surgery to repair a slashed tendon in his wrist.   No timetable is set for his return and at his age this may spell the end to his career.
