Cornwall ON – Boxing Day 2010 may go down as the pivotal day or the boys had a really good Christmas and left their A game back home in Montreal as the Habs lost to the Islanders 4-1.
There wasn’t much good to say about the game that saw Montreal have a great time to practice their penalty killing as they racked up a lot of minutes in the box.
They were shooting the puck and keeping shots on them down, but somehow their 39-25 effort led to a 4-1 loss. Alex Picard was a minus 2 while PK Subban was scratched.
Whatever is going on behind closed doors with the team and their chemistry has to be dealt with quick. Stanley Cup teams just don’t lose too many “gimme’s”.
Toronto beat New Jersey 4-1 with Colby Armstrong notching 2; John Mitchell, and Nicolas Kulemin hitting the back of Marty Brodeur’s net.
Washington edged Carolina 3-2 with Alex Ovechkin scoring a goal; Tampa Bay nipped Atlanta 3-2 in OT with Vinny Lecavalier returning to the Lightning.
Chicago defeated Columbus 4- 2; Jaroslav Halak shut out Nashville in St.Louis 2-0 win. Jimmy Howard also notched a win , 4-1 with Detroit beating Minnesota.
Erik Karlsson’s 2 goals led Ottawa to a 4-1 win over Pittsburgh. Sidney Crosby scored a goal to keep his game scoring streak alive.
Phoenix shut out Dallas 1-0; Vancouver clipped Edmonton 3-2; and The Kings dined on Duck beating Anaheim 4-1.
Canada doubled Russia 6-3 to open the World Juniors. Canada out shot Russia 47-27. Team USA edged Finland 3-2; Sweden buried Norway 7-1; and Switzerland nipped Germany 4-3!
